Through My Eyes: How a Shot Affected My Bipolar Medicine

I had to start taking a shot because of insulin resistance. Ever since I started it, my bipolar meds seemed different, almost like they stopped working. The shot made me feel mean.

For example, after the shot, it felt like my bipolar meds didn’t do anything at all. I started acting out at school and being mean to my teachers, friends, and even my family. It was like the shot blocked my meds from going through my body. I felt like I wasn’t even taking them anymore.

That made me really upset, because I don’t want to be mean to people I care about. I regret the way I treated them when this was happening. I’ve stopped the shot and It takes about 35 days for the shot to wear off, and during that time I didn’t feel like myself at all. I couldn’t tell how or when the medicine would leave my body.

Before the shot, I was doing good, even though I still had normal challenges. After the shot, I felt like a different person, and it was scary. Now I’m trying to get back on track so I can be my mom’s sweet boy again.

If something like this happens to you, try to talk about how you feel with your parents. It can be scary, but it helps when people understand what you’re going through.
