As my journey begins another day, I remind myself that it all starts with taking care of me. Sometimes, that’s the hardest part. When you’re surrounded by people, even loved ones, it can be difficult to prioritize your own well-being. But I’ve learned that I must separate my emotions from the noise around me and focus on my mental health and wellness first and foremost.
Getting enough rest and sticking to my self-care routine is essential. I’ve found that gently pushing myself, even when I don’t feel like going outside, keeping appointments, or connecting with others, can make a difference. If I start withdrawing or feeling isolated, that’s a red flag I can’t ignore.
I remind myself to listen to my counselor, my medical team, and those who care about me. Their insights help guide me back when I stray. Shifting my thoughts toward more positive outcomes takes effort, but it’s worth it.
As the week continues, I’ll stay committed to these practices to strengthen my mind. Progress may not always be steady, and that’s okay. Success looks different each day, but what matters most is that I never give up.
