We have finally gotten the help for our child that we’ve been asking for, and we couldn’t have hoped for a better outcome.
Grayson’s general education school simply didn’t have the proper tools or staff to support his mental health and behavioral needs. We all tried—Grayson included—but he became stuck in a frustrating cycle. He would push through for a few days, then become overwhelmed, sometimes even eloping from the school building. The result was out-of-school suspensions, followed by long waits—sometimes over a week—for an MDR meeting just to return, only to start the cycle all over again.
As parents, we spent our days holding our breath, constantly on edge, waiting for the phone call that would send us rushing to the school in a panic.
But now, everything has changed. Grayson is in a therapeutic school where all his needs are met, and he is thriving. He even had a meltdown recently—and they handled it without calling us, without suspending him, and without taking it personally.
We are beyond grateful for this newfound peace of mind and this fresh start for our boy. Grayson, we are so incredibly proud of you. Keep climbing—you are amazing!
